I am a Landscape painter who will occassionally try different subjects. I work with Oil paints only, I have tried other mediums but find oil paints are my favourite, as I am quite a slow painter I find the slow drying times of the oils very useful. I also prefer them, as I can blend the colours easier, therefore enabling me to produce some very striking and rich colours.
My work has a very contemporary feel to it, I have a very simple style but like to produce elegent yet striking pieces of art, with rich colours and bold lines.
All my inspiration comes from my surroundings, I have a soft spot for the sky, especially sunsets, I love the colours and the shapes I find. I sometimes find that if I am looking up at the sky, it looks so surreal that it seems it does not really belong there, this intrigues me.
I love a nice beach scene, I am lucky to live near the sea, so I am never short of one to paint.
Most my work is painted onto chunky pre-stretched canvas, I use these because they have such a contemporary and modern feel to them. They can be hung straight onto the wall with no need to frame and they look fantastic, I find that this surface really compliments the contemporary style of my work.
I also occassionally paint onto canvas boards. This is because, some pieces just look better in a nice big frame.
